Glow In the Dark Jack-O-Lantern

1 ball Loops & Threads Impeccable in the color “Pumpkin” (any orange worsted weight yarn will do)
A few yards green worsted weight yarn
H (5.0 mm) hook
Fiberfill stuffing
Glow-in-the-dark fabric paint
Yarn needle

With orange yarn, ch 31.

1. Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Ch 1, turn (30 hdc).

2. Ch 1, hdc in each hdc in back loops only across. Ch 1, turn (30 hdc).

Repeat row 2 until piece measures approximately 13 ½ inches from beg, FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Fold piece in half and whip stitch the ends together. Don’t finish off just yet: weave the needle through the ends of the rows and gather.

Stitch over where you gathered to close the hole securely. Cut yarn, turn piece inside out. Stuff with fiberfill.

Using a long strand of yarn, gather the open side of the pumpkin, and stitch over the hole. Do not finish off. Insert the needle into the bottom center of the pumpkin and pull it out of the center of the other end. You will have to smash the pumpkin down quite a bit to do this, but that’s okay. Pull the yarn tight. This will make the pumpkin pull in in the center to make it look more like an actual pumpkin than just a big orange ball.

Run the yarn through the middle of the pumpkin a couple more times, pulling the yarn tight with each pass through. Tie off and cut yarn.

Stem

With green yarn, ch 7. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. FO (6 sc).

Stitch stem to top of pumpkin.

Using craft paint, put a face on your pumpkin, and let dry.
