1. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Ch 1, turn (6 sc).

2. I blo, sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn (6 sc).

3. In blo, 2 sc in first sc. Sc in next 4 sc , 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn (8 sc.)

4 - 6. In blo, sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn (8 sc).

7. In blo, 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn (10 sc).

8 - 10. In blo, sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn (10 sc).

11. In blo, 2 sc in first sc. Sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn (12 sc).

12-14. In blo, sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn (12 sc).

From now on, work in both loops until otherwise specified.

Repeat row 16 until measures approx. 15 inches from beg.

17.Sc in first 6 sts, sc next 2 sts tog, sc in next 5 sts. Ch 1, turn (12 sc).

18-20. In blo, sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (12 sc).

21. In blo, sc first 2 sc tog, sc in next 8 sc, sc last 2 sc tog. Ch 1, turn (10 sc).

22 - 24. In blo, sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (10 sc).

25. In blo, sc first 2 sc tog, sc in next 6 sc, sc last 2 sc tog. Ch 1, turn (8 sc).

26-28. In blo, sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn (8 sc).

Beginner's In-The-Round Ear Warmer

Yarn needle

With no increases or decreases, this is a good first project for working with double-pointed needles. Worsted weight yarn will also work for this pattern.

Cast on 27 sts. Distribute evenly over 3 dpn’s.

Knit one round, place marker.

Knit around until piece measures approx. 19 ½ inches from beg. FO, leaving a long tail.

Stitch ends together.

Triple Warm Ear Warmer

This ear warmer is worked in a tube. A single layer of fleece goes inside, giving it three layers to help keep ears warm. It's not as large as it looks in the picture. My mannequin head is apparently a little undersized, lol. This ear warmer is actually quite comfortable, and will fit a man or a woman. Great charity project.

G (4.0) hook

Ch 32. Being careful not to twist, join ends with a sl st.

1. Ch 1. Sc in same ch and each ch around. Join to first sc with sl st (32 sc).

2. Ch 1, sc in same st and each st around. Join (32 sc).

Repeat row 2 until piece measures 22 ½ inches. Cut yarn.

Insert fleece into ear warmer and stitch into place. If it makes it easier, you can turn the ear warmer inside out to do this. Be careful not to stretch it, though, and be sure to only stitch through the fleece and one layer of the ear warmer.

Stitch ends together, FO.

Fpdc = front post double crochet

Bobble: Yo, insert hook into next st, yo and draw up a loop, (yo and insert hook into same st, yo and draw up a loop) three times, yo and draw through all 9 loops on hook.

Picot: Sc in next st, ch 3, sc in same st.

Ch 12.

1. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Ch 1, turn (11 sc).

2. Working in back loops only, sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn (11 sc).

Repeat row 2 until piece measures 5 ½ inches across.

3. Ch 2 (counts as first hdc), turn, working in both loops, hdc in each st across (11 hdc).

4. Ch 2, turn, hdc in each hdc across.

5. Ch 2, fpdc in next st, hdc in next 7 sts, fpdc in next st, hdc in last st.

6. Ch 2, bpdc in next st, hdc in next 3 sts, bobble in next st, hdc in next 3 sts, bpdc in next st, hdc in last st.

7. Repeat row 5.

8. Ch 2, bpdc in next st, hdc in next 7 sts, bpdc in next st, hdc in last st.

9. Repeat row 5.

Repeat rows 6 through 9 four times (5 bobbles).

10. Working in back loops only, sc in each st across.

Repeat row 2 until piece measures approximately 18 inches.

Ch 1, 57 sc evenly along long edge of ear warmer. Ch 1, sc in each of unused loops of beg ch, 57 sc evenly along other edge. With right sides together, sl st short ends together. Turn piece right side out.

With right side facing, ch 1, sc in next 2 sts, picot in next st. (Sc in next 2 sts, picot in next st) around, cut yarn.

Inner Layer

With I hook and Soft Boucle, ch 11.

1. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Ch 1, turn. (10 sc).

2. Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn. (10 sc).

Repeat row 2 until piece measures approx. 19.5 inches. Fold in half and sl st ends together. FO.

Outer Layer

With Lion Suede and J hook, ch 9.

1. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Ch 1, turn. (8 sc)

2. Sc in each st across, ch 1, turn. (8 sc)

Repeat row 2 until piece measures approx. 21.5 inches, ch 1, do not turn.

72 sc evenly along side of ear warmer. Ch 1, sc in unused loops of beg ch, 72 sc even along other side. With wrong sides together, fold in half and sl st. ends together. FO, weave in ends.

Joining

With seams together, place inner layer inside of outer layer. Switch to J hook and Soft Boucle.

Join edge of layers together with sc in any st. Working in ends of rows of inner layer and sc edging of outer layer, sc around. (72 sc). Repeat for other edge of ear warmer. FO, weave in ends.

Ladies' Checkered Earwarmer

Materials:
2 colors Caron Simply Soft

Abbreviations:
CA: Color A (white)
CB: Color B (blue)
Bl: Back loop

With CA, ch 16.

1. Sc in each ch across (15 sc).

2. Sc in bl of each sc across (15 sc).

3. Repeat row 2 until piece measures 5 1/2 inches from beginning.

4. Working in both loops, sc in first 3 sc. Join CB and work 3 sc. Now, alternate between colors every 3 sc, ending with 3 CA.

5, 6. Work alternating 3 CA, 3 CB, beginning and ending with CA.

7 - 9. Work alternating 3 CB, 3 CA, beginning and ending with CB.

10-12. Work alternating 3 CA, 3 cB, beginning and ending with CA.

Repeat rows 7-12 until piece measures approx 12 1/2 inches from beginning. FO CB.

11. Working in bl only, sc in each sc across.

12. Repeat row 11 until piece measures approximately 18 inches from beginning. Do NOT finish off.

13. (Joining row) Sc ends together. FO.

Optional:
For added warmth and a softer earwarmer, gently brush the wrong side of with a stiff-bristled hairbrush. It makes yarn feel heavenly!
